Coin Pricing

What is the difference between buy price and sell price?

At any moment there are two prices for a digital asset on Superhero Crypto. The buy price is what you pay to purchase the asset. The sell price is what you receive when you sell it. The buy price is always slightly higher than the sell price.

The gap between the two is called the spread. It reflects the cost of matching buyers and sellers in the market and can widen or narrow depending on how actively an asset is traded and how volatile it is at the time. More liquid assets like Bitcoin tend to have tighter spreads. Less traded assets tend to have wider ones.

In practical terms, if you bought an asset and sold it again immediately, you would get back slightly less than you paid even if the market had not moved. That difference is the spread, and it applies to every trade.

Why are prices on Superhero different from other exchanges?

Digital asset prices can vary between exchanges because each one has its own pool of buyers, sellers and trading activity.
Prices are driven by supply and demand, and differences in liquidity. Trading volume and market activity mean prices are rarely identical across platforms.

Why is the “Last Price” different from the buy and sell prices?

When you trade digital assets, you'll see a buy price and sell price. These are the prices used to execute your trade.

The Last Price is the latest market price from the exchange. It's used to calculate the value and performance of your holdings in AUD. Because your holdings are valued using the Last Price, you may see a small unrealised gain or loss immediately after placing a trade, even if the market price hasn't changed.

When can I trade crypto?

Crypto markets typically operate 24/7, however there may be short windows that specific digital assets are unavailable.
