Can I buy U.S. shares directly using my AUD?
Yes. You can buy eligible U.S. shares using your AUD balance without the need to convert funds to USD first.

What types of U.S. orders can I place using AUD?
AUD can only be used for market buy orders for eligible U.S. shares.
Limit orders and sell orders for U.S. shares are currently not supported when using AUD.
Which U.S. shares can I buy with AUD?
This feature is only available for eligible U.S. shares that support fractional investing.
If a stock has the below “Trade With AUD” option, this means it’s eligible.
If a stock isn’t supported, you’ll need to convert AUD to USD in your Wallet and place your order in USD.
Do I pay an FX fee to make this trade?
Yes, Superhero’s standard FX fee of 65 basis points, which is added to the rate applies. This FX fee is the same as when manually converting AUD to USD in your Wallet.
There are no additional fees for choosing to buy U.S. shares directly with AUD. The FX fee is deducted from the AUD amount you enter.

Is brokerage included in the AUD amount?
Yes, brokerage is included in the cost of the trade. The standard U.S. brokerage fee applies.
What is the minimum order size when buying U.S. shares with AUD?
The minimum order size when buying U.S. shares directly with AUD is A$10.
What happens if I cancel my order?
- If your AUD hasn’t yet been converted, your full AUD amount will return to your Superhero Wallet.
- If your AUD has already been converted to USD, the trade will be cancelled and the USD will remain in your Wallet. It won’t be converted back to AUD and FX fees won’t be refunded.
How can I see if my AUD has been converted?
You can check if the conversion has taken place by reviewing your pending order.
- If the order amount is still shown in AUD, the FX conversion hasn’t happened yet.
- If the amount appears in USD, your funds have already been converted and the order is one step closer to being fulfilled.
When will my AUD be converted to USD?
Your AUD will be converted to USD when the security enters pre-market trading, if the order was placed outside of market hours.
If the order is placed during U.S. market hours, the conversion happens shortly after the order is submitted.
What happens if my order fails?
If your order fails or is cancelled, what happens next depends on whether your AUD has already been converted to USD:
- If your funds have already been converted to USD: The USD amount (net of FX fees) will be credited to your Superhero Wallet. These funds will remain in USD and will not be converted back to AUD. FX fees are not refundable.
- If your funds haven’t been converted yet (for example, if the order was placed outside U.S. market hours): Your AUD will be returned to your Wallet in full and no FX fee will be charged.
