Buy Eligible U.S. shares directly with AUD

We’ve just made it simpler for you to invest in some of the world’s biggest companies. Starting today, you can buy eligible U.S. shares directly with your Aussie dollars – no need to convert to USD before placing your trade. 

How it works

1. Choose your stock: Search for the U.S. company you want to invest in.
2. Look for “Trade with AUD”: If it’s available, the stock is eligible.
3. Enter your AUD amount: Start from as little as A$10 (instead of the usual US$10 minimum when trading in USD).
4. We handle the FX conversion: Your AUD is converted to USD in the background when your order is placed.

What this means for you

By letting you trade directly from your AUD balance, we’re removing friction so you can focus on building your portfolio.

Do note our standard FX fee (65 bps) applies, just as if you converted AUD to USD yourself. Brokerage is included in your AUD order amount and Superhero’s standard U.S. brokerage fee applies.

And if you’d prefer to trade in USD or need to place limit or sell orders, you can still convert in your Wallet first.

A few things to know

• This feature is only available for market buy orders on eligible U.S. shares that support fractional investing.
• Limit orders and sell orders for U.S. shares are not currently supported when using AUD.
• If a stock doesn’t have the “Trade with AUD” option, you’ll need to convert AUD to USD in your Wallet first and then place your order.
• If your order is cancelled before conversion, your full AUD is returned to your Wallet. If it’s cancelled after conversion, the USD remains in your Wallet and FX fees aren’t refunded.
